"For 3+ decades I’d tried to find my way out of profound fatigue, chronic depression, and the intense anger and frustration which accompanies misophonia triggers. I’d found very little help through traditional medical treatment or psychological services. More than once these professions minimized my symptoms & struggles or dismissed my condition outright. About 8 months ago I discovered Dr. Stephen Porges’ Polyvagal Theory and SSP. Immediately I went in search of an SSP provider. Of the all the providers I found only Dr. Liz mentioned the importance of titrating SSP, and how the lack of proper titration may be potentially harmful to the client. Reading this on her webpage indicated to me that her ethical standards exceed those of other providers, that she is unwilling to compromise her ethics, and that her practice is first and foremost client centred. And now, after having worked with her for 6 months I can confirm that all this is true! Her clients’ interest and well-being are at the forefront of everything she does. She will safeguard your well-being above all else and share tools and insights so you can become adept at safeguarding your own well-being, too. So grateful to SSP and especially Dr. Liz for bringing an end to my decades long search for well-being." (Age 60, California, USA)
"Doing SSP with Liz was a really wonderful experience. Over the course of our sessions together I noticed a sense of clarity emerging, and an awareness of what nervous system state I was in, along with a significant reduction in my lifelong issues around sound sensitivity. Liz's unique combination of SSP coupled with numerous regulation exercises seems to have anchored the impact of SSP – but has also helped me incorporate nervous system regulation into my everyday life in a straightforward and pleasant way. Liz is compassionate, fun and all her sessions were absolutely tailor-made to me and my situation. I can't recommend her highly enough and in fact have recommended her to a few people!" (Aged 30, UK)
"Travelling the SSP journey with Liz has been both enlightening and life changing for me. I have a significant trauma history and can say that at all times, I have felt safe and nurtured as we move through the different stages. The process has opened my ability to become more attuned with my body, and I have developed a greater sense of calm and clarity in my life. I find that I have improved my emotional self-regulation and this has had a positive impact on family relationships. Also, some specific physical changes I have experienced have included: a significant reduction in jaw clenching , neck tension (which was causing headaches) and most surprisingly for me, it cleared up my blocked sinuses (which had been a problem for decades). I have needed to take my time through the SSP process, allowing my nervous system to adjust and for the ‘new me’ to make the most of the changes and opportunities that SSP delivers. A very positive experience." (Aged 57, Melbourne, Australia)
"I have been chronically ill for 5 years and SSP has given me a sense of recovery like I had never expected. Aside from the valuable content of the program, Liz has been such an amazing, accommodating and sensitive guide in this journey. She is there for me in all my ups and downs, my big nervous system shifts and balanced moments. When I experienced some intense times, I felt like she was really by my side the whole time through, and I can always feel her support, empathy and dedication to my process. I see Liz as an idol when it comes to taking care of yourself and your nervous system. By now we have a strong therapeutic rapport, which I’m very positive about. We laugh a lot! I felt a connection to her from the start, and it is that connection she so easily builds with her clients that makes the biggest difference in the work together. Liz inspires me to keep up the work and practice polyvagally informed self-care. I can’t thank her enough :) " (Aged 25, The Netherlands)
"I completed the SSP Provider course and instantly wanted to go through the process of having SSP with a sensitive and skilled provider. I have a history of sexual abuse as a young child and have lived much of my life in a deep, dark well with no ladder, no light and no warmth, feeling alone, very frightened and scared. With this in mind, I started to look for a provider that could offer more than the listening as I knew I needed to take things slowly within a therapeutic relationship. Liz is very skilled at being able to help a highly traumatised nervous system by taking time to connect, being sensitive, genuine, respectful, open and noticing how crucial the provider relationship is. With Liz’s medical background I found it very reassuring and comforting to engage in SSP with her remotely.I experienced very early on into my SSP journey with Liz that through learning to regulate my nervous system, I have many more choices in my day-to-day life. I am learning to listen to my whispers before my body starts to shout and I have found that my energy flows when I’m being true to myself. I am now living the life I was meant to have rather than being surrounded by trauma and disconnected from my core and my body. I now enjoy being safe, connected and social a lot of the time as opposed to once a week. I love and respect the fact that Liz shows her vulnerability, offers an individual approach, openly shares her story and past states. Liz is a true inspiration, a very special lady, instinctively knows what questions to ask, when and how to ask them. She enormously helps me to move confidently through my states to where I want to be by listening, guiding, caring and she has such a strong desire to get it right for me. I am not in the deep, dark well very often these days but when I do find myself there, I am never alone and Liz will always be there right next to me if I want her to be. I have my own ladder now and I know how to move up and down and in and out of my well. The well is no longer so dark and I can always see, hear and connect to others if I want to. I have started to live my life in a way I had only previously dreamed of and now feel joy most days. Thank you, Liz, for helping me to intrinsically connect, not only with my nervous system but with my core and for participating and sharing my journey. You are a remarkable person, a highly skilled sensitive provider and a most precious gift for a traumatised nervous system." (Age 52, UK)
"Liz is attuned to the needs of her clients and seems to have a natural ability to relate to others. When working with Liz, she individualized treatment to suit my needs in a way where my nervous system learned to regulate as I continued SSP. I was able to connect easily with Liz online, despite living approximately 3,000 miles away and found her to be a person of integrity." (Aged 38, USA)
"SSP has been life changing for me. The protocol itself works in such a profound way however this is really only one side of the coin because then there is Liz. I am so grateful to have been on this journey with Liz. You know from the beginning that you are in very knowledgeable, very experienced and most importantly the very safest pair of hands." (Aged 44)
"Even though we worked remotely all the time, Liz managed to create a safe place between us, and from the first session I found it very easy to connect with her. Doing SSP via Zoom meant that we would move substantially slower than usual; however, this ultimately proved very beneficial as this allowed me to dive deeper into the workings of my nervous system." (Aged 45)
"I had SSP remotely. I did not quite know what to expect from our first session but Dr Liz was clear and supportive and guided me effortlessly through the process. She had a fantastic knack of making me feel listened to and supported. She was able to balance being very present but also letting me ‘just be’ when listening to the music so I was able to separate myself from any demands. Dr Liz could not have been more understanding and supportive in helping me build SSP into my routine at a time that was helpful to me." (Aged 54)
